Scrunch AI alternatives: 8 tools, the cost math and when Scrunch still wins

Scrunch tracks seven AI engines on every plan, which few rivals match at $300 a month. Here is who beats it for smaller budgets, agencies and enterprise procurement, with the cost worked out per prompt and engine.

Short answerThe best Scrunch AI alternatives are Profound for enterprise procurement, Peec AI for focused daily tracking with unlimited users, Otterly.AI and SE Ranking for smaller budgets, ZeroRank for agencies and engine breadth, LLM Pulse for cheap weekly tracking, AthenaHQ for a free start and Ahrefs Brand Radar for category benchmarks. Scrunch stays hard to beat on engines per dollar.
Key takeaways
  • Scrunch Starter costs $300 a month, or $250 billed annually, for 350 custom prompts across 7 AI platforms including Claude and Meta. Among the self-serve plans we checked, only AthenaHQ Starter ($295) also includes Claude near that price, and it caps you at 3,600 answers a month.
  • Scrunch's pricing page doesn't say how often prompts run, so you can't compute its cost per AI answer. Ask before you compare.
  • Sitecore announced it had acquired Scrunch on June 3, 2026. The press release describes Scrunch as "a Sitecore Company" and doesn't say whether it stays available standalone.
  • In our worked example (200 prompts on 5 engines), Scrunch came in at $300 a month, Otterly.AI at $456 with add-ons, ZeroRank at $499, and Peec AI couldn't cover Claude without Enterprise.
  • SSO and the data API sit on Scrunch's Enterprise plan only; Starter and Growth get Google sign-in.

What does Scrunch do, and why do people look elsewhere?

Scrunch tracks how AI assistants talk about your brand and then tries to change it. Its site splits the product into three parts: Monitoring (prompt, topic and entity tracking with citations, competitors and AI bot traffic), Insights (why engines do or don't surface you, including crawl errors), and the Agent Experience Platform, or AXP, which serves a lightweight machine-readable version of your site to AI agents while humans see the normal one3 (Scrunch). It says more than 500 companies and agencies use it and names Lenovo, Skims, Crunchbase and Penn State.

On June 3, 2026, Sitecore announced it had bought Scrunch. The release says Scrunch's recommendations will be automated inside SitecoreAI's content and asset tools, and it reports two customer results: Akamai saw a 364% increase in appearances for non-branded prompts and 218% more citations on AXP-enabled pages versus comparable pages without AXP, and Runpod attributed a 400% increase in paying customers to its AI search work2 (Sitecore press release). Those are company-reported numbers from the people selling the product, so read them as case studies.

The searches for alternatives we see tend to come from five places:

  • $300 a month is a lot for a team that only wants to track 30 prompts.
  • The pricing page doesn't state run frequency, which makes like-for-like comparison impossible.
  • SSO and API access require Enterprise.
  • Teams on a different content platform want to know what the Sitecore ownership means for their roadmap.
  • Agencies want white-label dashboards and per-client workspaces priced for 10 or more brands.

What does Scrunch cost?

Scrunch publishes two self-serve plans and a custom Enterprise tier1 (Scrunch pricing). Every plan covers ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews and Meta.

PlanMonthlyBilled annuallyCustom promptsIndustry promptsPersonasUsersPage audits
Starter$300$250/mo3501,000335
Growth$500$417/mo7002,5005510
EnterpriseCustomCustomExpandedExpandedExpandedCustomCustom

Extra seats cost $25 a month each. Growth adds strategy reviews; Enterprise adds SAML or OIDC single sign-on, the Enterprise Data API, Slack support and a dedicated go-to-market team. The Starter trial runs 7 days with no card and includes the full Starter allowance. Scrunch also says you won't be cut off if you near a limit; its team contacts you instead.

How does Scrunch compare on cost per prompt and engine?

Since Scrunch doesn't publish run frequency, the fairest unit we can build from public pages is the prompt-engine pair: one prompt tracked on one engine for a month. It ignores how often each pair runs, so we show frequency next to it. The figures are our arithmetic from each vendor's pricing page, at monthly billing.

PlanPrice a monthPrompts x enginesPairsCost per pairStated frequency
Scrunch Starter$300350 x 72,450$0.12Not published
Scrunch Growth$500700 x 74,900$0.10Not published
Peec AI Advanced$495350 x 31,050$0.47Daily
Otterly.AI Premium$489400 x 41,600$0.31Daily
SE Ranking Growth$279250 x 51,250$0.22Daily
ZeroRank Growth$199150 x 3 (daily example)450$0.44Daily, weekly or monthly
LLM Pulse Scale299 euros450 x 52,2500.13 eurosWeekly at this price

Two things stand out. If Scrunch runs daily, it's the cheapest broad tracker on the market by a wide margin. If it runs less often, LLM Pulse's weekly plan is close on price per pair. That's why the first question on any Scrunch demo should be how many AI answers sit behind the 350 prompts each month. Our AI visibility tool pricing study lays out the same math for 11 vendors.

Our takePrice per pair is where Scrunch wins, and most alternatives can't match it for teams that want Claude and Meta tracked alongside ChatGPT and Google. Switch away only for a concrete reason: you track fewer than about 60 prompts (so $300 buys capacity you won't use), you need SSO or an API without an enterprise contract, or you're an agency that needs client workspaces. Leaving because of the Sitecore deal alone is premature; ask for the roadmap in writing at renewal instead.

The 8 Scrunch alternatives, one by one

They're grouped by the reason you'd switch, not ranked by score.

1. Profound: if procurement drives the decision

Profound is the closest match to Scrunch's enterprise side. Its Enterprise plan runs a custom prompt plan daily on up to nine engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude, AI Overviews and Exa Search), with all-time history, CSV and JSON exports, an API, unlimited seats, SSO/SAML and SOC 2 compliance5 (Profound pricing). Price is by quote.

The trial is narrower than Scrunch's: 50 prompts Profound picks, run daily for 7 days on ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews, and you can't edit them. So you can't test your own prompt set before signing, which is a real gap next to Scrunch's 350-prompt trial. Choose Profound when a security review is the gate and the budget is already approved. Our Profound alternatives page covers the reverse comparison.

2. Peec AI: if you want fewer engines tracked deeply

Peec AI charges $95, $245 or $495 a month for 50, 150 or 350 prompts, each with 3 models you choose from ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI, tracked daily with unlimited users4 (Peec pricing). Its page counts the answers for you: Advanced delivers 31,500 a month. A fourth model costs $30, $70 or $140 a month depending on plan, at the annual rate.

Against Scrunch, Peec trades breadth for depth and transparency. You know exactly how many answers you get, and the analysis goes far: source classification, gap analysis by URL, an ads library, SKU-level shopping tracking and crawler logs from CDN integrations. What you lose is Claude, which appears only in Peec's Enterprise model list, along with Grok, DeepSeek, Qwen and Mistral. If Claude matters to your buyers, that alone rules Peec's self-serve plans out. More in our Peec AI alternatives guide.

3. Otterly.AI: if the budget is under $200

Otterly.AI starts at $29 a month for 15 prompts, then $189 for 100 and $489 for 400, all tracked daily on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot10 (Otterly pricing). Gemini, AI Mode and Claude are add-ons priced per plan; Claude costs $29, $109 or $439 a month on Lite, Standard and Premium. Every plan includes unlimited team members and 50+ countries.

It's the only tool here with Copilot in the base package, which matters for companies selling into Microsoft-heavy enterprises. The catch is the add-on bill: to match Scrunch's engine list you'd add three engines, and on Premium that's $737 a month on top of the plan. Otterly makes sense for small prompt sets on four engines. See our Otterly.AI alternatives for the full breakdown.

4. ZeroRank: if you run many brands or want to choose frequency

ZeroRank sells an answer budget instead of a prompt count. Starter is $39 a month for up to 2,400 AI answers, Growth $199 for 13,500 and Agency $499 for 31,500, and every plan can track any of 17 AI platforms with no per-model add-ons or seat charges7 (ZeroRank pricing). You can run prompts daily, weekly, monthly or on demand, and Growth includes up to 10 workspaces.

Its pricing page doesn't list the 17 platforms, so check that the engines you need are on it. The flexibility is the reason to pick it over Scrunch. An agency can run a client's 20 most important prompts daily and the long tail monthly, from the same budget. ZeroRank notes that higher-cost models use more of the budget, so check how Claude and other premium engines are metered before you size a plan.

5. SE Ranking: if you'd rather not buy a separate tool

SE Ranking's Core plan, at $129 a month ($103.20 billed annually), includes 100 prompts tracked daily on 5 LLMs, AI competitive research for 5 domains and unlimited AI source tracking. Growth, at $279, raises that to 250 prompts and 15 domains6 (SE Ranking pricing). The trial runs 14 days without a card.

For an SEO team already paying for rank tracking somewhere else, this replaces two tools with one. Its pricing page doesn't name the five LLMs, so confirm Claude and Gemini coverage in the trial. It has nothing like Scrunch's AXP.

6. LLM Pulse: if weekly data is enough

LLM Pulse starts at 49 euros a month for 50 prompts and 1 project, 99 euros for 150 prompts and 2 projects, and 299 euros for 450 prompts and 5 projects, with five models included on every plan: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews and Gemini9 (LLM Pulse pricing). Those prices are for weekly tracking; daily costs more. Extra prompts are 1 euro each a month, extra models start at 8 euros, and team members are unlimited.

Weekly runs sound thin, but for a mention rate that you report monthly they're often enough. Four runs a month on 450 prompts is a decent sample. The Scale plan also adds ChatGPT Shopping and paid-ads tracking, an API and a Looker Studio connector.

7. AthenaHQ: if you want to start free

AthenaHQ's free Essential tier includes 300 credits and a $25 credit across ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Gemini and Copilot. Starter, at $295 a month, gives 3,600 credits on 11 models, adding AI Mode, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral. One credit is one AI response8 (AthenaHQ pricing).

The model list beats Scrunch's. The volume doesn't: 3,600 answers across 11 models is about 11 prompts a day if each runs on every model. AthenaHQ fits teams that want content recommendations and a content optimization agent more than deep daily tracking. The AthenaHQ alternatives page runs the credit math in detail.

8. Ahrefs Brand Radar: if you want the category view

Brand Radar works from Ahrefs' own database, which it puts at more than 470 million monthly prompts, and covers AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity, Copilot, Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude11 (Ahrefs Brand Radar). Custom prompt tracking starts at 47 euros a month and the AI Visibility Index at 179 euros a month for 2,500+ checks, with usage counted per platform, location and update. A Claude update costs 8 checks.

It answers a different question from Scrunch. Scrunch tells you how you do on prompts you wrote; Brand Radar tells you how your whole category looks across prompts you didn't think to write. Many teams end up with one of each.

Worked example: 200 prompts on 5 engines

To make the trade-offs concrete, here's a hypothetical in-house team that wants 200 prompts tracked on ChatGPT, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity and Claude, daily where the plan allows. We priced it from each public pricing page at monthly billing. Your quote may differ.

ZeroRankAgency (31,500 answers; job needs 200 x 5 x 30 = 30,000)$499Fits only if premium models don't use extra budget; confirm Claude is among its 17 platforms
LLM PulseGrowth 99 euros + 50 extra prompts at 1 euro + Claude add-on149 euros plus ClaudeWeekly, not daily
Peec AIAdvanced $495 + 2 extra modelsNo self-serve fitClaude is Enterprise only
AthenaHQStarter (3,600 credits)$295 plus extra creditsDaily needs 30,000 credits; extra credits priced by sales
SE RankingGrowth (250 prompts, 5 LLMs)$279Only if its 5 LLMs include Claude; not named on the page

Scrunch wins this one, and it's the shape of job Scrunch is built for. Shrink the job to 40 prompts on ChatGPT and AI Overviews and the answer flips: Otterly Standard ($189) or ZeroRank Starter ($39 for 26 prompts daily on 3 models) do it for a fraction of the price.

Which Scrunch alternative should you choose?

  • If you track under 60 prompts on 3 or 4 engines, pick Otterly.AI or Peec AI Starter.
  • If your security team requires SOC 2 and SSO before anything else, start the Profound conversation.
  • If you run 5 or more client brands, compare ZeroRank workspaces with LLM Pulse's partner plans.
  • If you need Claude tracked and won't sign an enterprise contract, stay with Scrunch or price AthenaHQ Starter with extra credits.
  • If you want AI tracking and SEO in one bill, trial SE Ranking and confirm its LLM list.
  • If you're already an Ahrefs customer, add Brand Radar before buying anything else and see what it already answers.

Whichever you pick, judge it on citation rate and share of voice over many runs, not a single answer. Our roundup of AI visibility tools covers trackers beyond this list, and the guide to measuring AI visibility shows how to build a prompt set worth paying to track.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Scrunch AI cost?

Scrunch Starter is $300 a month month to month or $250 a month billed annually, for 350 custom prompts, 1,000 industry prompts, 3 personas and 3 users. Growth is $500, or $417 annually, for 700 prompts and 5 users. Enterprise is custom and adds SSO and the Enterprise Data API. Every plan covers seven AI platforms, and extra seats are $25 a month.

Is Scrunch still available after the Sitecore acquisition?

Yes, Scrunch still sells its Starter, Growth and Enterprise plans on its own pricing page. Sitecore announced the acquisition on June 3, 2026, and its release describes Scrunch as a Sitecore company whose recommendations will be built into SitecoreAI. It doesn't commit to a standalone roadmap, so ask your account team at renewal.

What is the cheapest alternative to Scrunch?

Otterly.AI Lite at $29 a month for 15 prompts on four engines, or ZeroRank Starter at $39 for up to 2,400 AI answers a month. LLM Pulse Starter is 49 euros for 50 prompts on five models, tracked weekly. All three are cheaper than Scrunch for small prompt sets; none beats Scrunch on cost per prompt and engine once you track a few hundred prompts.

Does Scrunch track Claude?

Yes. Scrunch lists ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews and Meta on every plan, including Starter. That's unusual. Peec AI offers Claude only on Enterprise, Otterly.AI sells it as a paid add-on, and LLM Pulse charges for it as an extra model. AthenaHQ Starter and Profound Enterprise also include it.

What is the difference between Scrunch and Profound?

Both serve larger brands, but Scrunch publishes prices ($300 and $500 a month) and lets you trial 350 of your own prompts, while Profound sells Enterprise by quote and its free trial uses 50 prompts it picks. Profound lists SOC 2, all-time history and nine engines. Scrunch has AXP, which serves a machine-readable version of your site to AI agents.

What is Scrunch AXP?

AXP, the Agent Experience Platform, serves a lightweight, machine-readable version of your site to AI agents while human visitors see the normal design. Sitecore's release reports that Akamai saw 364% more appearances on non-branded prompts and 218% more citations on AXP-enabled pages than on comparable pages. Those are company-reported results, so test on a sample of your own pages.
